Lazy Day Off

Angostura Reservoir, our view!
Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018

As I wrote at the end of the last blog, we are taking a day "off" to just relax a little bit. It is so much fun driving and seeing new things, but sometimes it is good to stop and enjoy ourselves where we are, just a little bit more. Angostura State Recreation Area is where we are, and it is the perfect place for a lazy day off.

The campgrounds (there are 5, i think-- we are in the Hat Creek campground) are beautiful, with large spaces and room between them. We are not precisely ON the lake, but we are opposite the lake-front sites, just a few yards away, with a lovely view of water.

This was a little bit of "Badlands" from yesterday at dusk
Joe spent the morning doing chores-- he tweaked the tire pressure gauges, and then he went up on the roof and sealed the skylight which had leaked during that last heavy storm (which seems like several weeks ago already!!)  That kind of wiped him out, and he spent the rest of the day relaxing. I spent the morning looking at maps, and then I wrote my blog, although we did have some issues, because our wifi phone is not getting any reception. I am writing this using my AT&T phone as a hot spot, and am just consuming data every moment, so I'm trying to write fast.

Joe messing with the tire pressure monitors
I did go swimming, though-- the lake was LOVELY. I refuse to upload any photos of me, though . Cassie spent the whole day lying in the grass, which has made her very happy. She does not want to come back inside.

Just a note: some people are a lot crazier than we are! The photo below is of a neighboring site. They have a Class C a little smaller than ours-- maybe 25 feet? And outside it, they have one of those portable fenced yards which is nice if you have small pets, so they can hang around outside. And inside the yard are no fewer than SIX LITTLE DOGS. And outside the yard was a seventh dog on a long leash. SEVEN dogs in one smallish RV?? It must be lunacy when they drive. But to each his own!

A LOT of little dogs!!!
And that was our day-- quiet and relaxing!! Joe opened up the awning so we'd be in shade all day, although we have a very nice small tree right next to us.

Tomorrow we will go back on the road, heading for the mountains of central Wyoming, Thermopolis (hot springs!), and Cody.

A day off just to hang out is the way to go. We did that a few times in places like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and other places. Our feelings were, if we didn't see something this year we would put it in out loose plan for the following year.

6 dogs in a motor home is very odd. What do you do with them if you have a major problem with your unit.

Enjoy!
